St. Olaf Spectacle

The amount of money and effort that go into maintaining the St. Olaf campus's appearances extends way beyond that required for sanitation, safety, or necessity: gardens are groomed, decorations are laid, and even buildings erected with an additional purpose of conveying a certain image of our campus. The pristine and carefully manicured environment makes our campus more appealing to prospective students and benefactors, and likely even in a way promotes the high academic standards of the college. One of the most notable displays of campus spectacle is during Christmasfest- the dozens of Christmas trees around campus and decorations placed with utmost care beautifies the campus and adds to the festive atmosphere for visitors, students, and faculty; and certainly serves as a close-to-home example of spectacle.
